Small Group Meetings

Istanbul: May 2018

Switzerland: February 2016

AOP held a SGM in Istanbul, May 2018. The purpose of this SGM was to bring together researchers who have been studying the work-family (W-F) interface in a global context. Cross-cultural W-F researchers shared their knowledge about the current state of research findings in the area. Specifically, different researchers/teams discussed similarities and discrepancies in findings, with the aim of moving toward a common understanding of the cultural drivers of W-F dynamics. SGM participants engaged in theory development, collaborative research ideas, and provided suggestions for culturally-relevant practice.

AOP held its first SGM in Zurich, Switzerland, February 2016. The SGM was led by Gudela Grote and Jose Cortina and focused on the systemic concerns and issues within the current publication process and related academic structures that are utilized to support such processes. Entitled "Fostering Ethical, Rigorous and Relevant Research: The Contribution of Work and Organizational Psychology", the meeting included a lively debate over a 1.5 day period and discussed tensions between (un)ethical scientific conduct and the need for increased rigor and relevance. This resulted in a memorandum of understanding.
