Here you can find the latest information from our Member Organizations, "Big Tent" Network Partners and us.
We reflect on an eventful past year. There was the SIOP Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, in April. The 22nd European Congress of Work and Organizational Psychology in Prague, Czech Republic, in May. And the first Global Work and Organizational Psychology Conference, which was a 24-hour online marathon. There were also many other happenings, such as the 86thCPA and different small group meetings. Each event gave new opportunities to facilitate exchange, build networks, and find new solutions in the field of industrial, work, and organizational psychology.
We are looking forward to the upcoming year 2026 with new gatherings and scientific findings!
Happy New Year!
Annemarie, Sharon, Mark, & Alexandra

Dear DJ and Laura,
on behalf of AOP, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the time, effort, and dedication you have given to the Big Tent initiative.
Your activities for the Big Tent helped to connect, inform and engage our federated and extended network members. From sharing relevant activities to fostering a sense of community, you helped ensure that our members stayed up to date and felt involved and this has contributed greatly to AOP’s mission and goals.
While we are sorry to see you step down from your role, we are very grateful for all that you've done. Your contributions have helped lay the foundation for continued communication and engagement via the Big Tent and we are happy that Sharon Glazer has kindly agreed to continue the initiative.
Thank you once again for your generosity of time and spirit. We hope to continue to meet you at future IWOP events and that you will stay involved in whatever capacity feels right. We wish you all the best in your next activities.
We warmly welcome Sharon Glazer as our new Chair of the “Big Tent”. She will be supported by her new volunteers, Vi Phung and Maria Baldova. We are looking forward to a good & interesting collaboration and new impulses for the “Big Tent".
Warm regards, on behalf of the AOP Executive Committee,
Annemarie Hiemstra
AOP President
The Alliance for Organizational Psychology (AOP) held its annual Board of Delegates meeting on November 10, bringing together representatives from federated member associations around the world. The session centered on reviewing the year’s work, highlighting key activities, discussing upcoming initiatives, and reinforcing collaboration among global organizational psychology societies.
The Conference Program Committee shared updates on the implementation of a new system to improve coordination of global conferences, along with multiple calls for proposals issued across events worldwide. Delegates explored ways to make the submission process more accessible, including streamlining information-gathering, clarifying guidance for submitters, and strengthening communication with conference organizers.
The Board also reviewed the recent Global Work and Organizational Psychology (GWOP) online conference, which drew more than 1,300 participants during its 24-hour program. Planning for the 2026 conference has already begun, building on this year’s success.
Big Tent reported on outreach efforts underway, including tracking leadership changes, verifying active websites, and following up with new contacts identified at the GWOP conference. Delegates were encouraged to suggest discussion topics and share ideas on Groups.io to support continued global collaboration.
The Executive Committee outlined key priorities for the coming years: strengthening policy-impact efforts, expanding knowledge-sharing, supporting early-career professionals, enhancing communication channels, and continuing to develop joint symposia and social events across global conferences. These initiatives reflect AOP’s ongoing commitment to connecting organizational psychology communities worldwide.
The meeting concluded with updates on financial planning, membership dues, website improvements, and the upcoming call for new Executive Committee positions. Delegates closed the session with a shared focus on continued collaboration in the year ahead.

The inaugural Global Work and Organizational Psychology (G-WOP) conference took place on September 18-19, 2025. This virtual event, spanning a continuous 24 hours, featured over 30+ back-to-back presentations on a range of industrial, work, and organizational psychology topics to a global audience of students, practitioners, and researchers.
The Alliance for Organizational Psychology presented, discussing some of the challenges and opportunities that industrial, work, and organizational psychology faces operating at a global level. We then reviewed the background of the Alliance and its past and current initiatives to address some of these opportunities. Finally, we gathered feedback from attendees on their ideas for how the Alliance could support the global practice of industrial, work, and organizational psychology, which we have used in our strategic planning efforts.
The creation of the G-WOP conference was truly a grassroots event, led by Nikita Mikhailov, Simon Toms, and Michelle Goro, with support and help from a dedicated team of overly 40 volunteers from professional associations across the globe. As Michelle communicated, “The goal was to create an accessible global opportunity where individuals at every level – from students to experienced practitioners – who are passionate about I-O psychology could connect, share knowledge, and learn from one another.” Through connecting G-WOP conference organizers with its Big Tent association network partners, the Alliance helped expand the reach of this global initiative.
Given a short window of only a few months to organize and promote the event, arrange sessions, and secure registrations, the conference was extremely successful. “To coordinate, curate, and execute the event was no small feat and it was key to have the volunteers across societies to have a successful outcome,” noted Michelle. There were 2,300 registrations and ultimately 1,360 attendees across the 24-hour event.
Over 90% of those providing post-conference feedback indicated they planned to attend a future G-WOP conference, and the average rating on whether they would recommend the conference to others was 9.2 on a 10-point scale. Similarly, qualitative feedback suggested attendees felt very positively about the conference, highlighting the quality of speakers, presentations, and content, the opportunity to network globally, the opportunity to hear about international perspectives on issues in the field, and the ability to unite the global industrial, work, and organizational psychology field.
Needless to say given these results, Michelle indicated that plans are already underway for a 2026 G-WOP conference to continue this outstanding and impactful effort!
In 2025, the Conference Committee of the Alliance for Organizational Psychology issued calls for proposals for SIOP, ICAP, and SBPOT. We received many excellent submissions from around the world and selected the most compelling sessions to feature across these conferences. Together, these sessions highlight diverse perspectives and forward-looking insights that advance the global practice and science of industrial, work, and organizational psychology.
At the 2026 Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, USA (April 29 – May 2, 2026), the Alliance will host three dynamic sessions:
· Designing human-AI collaboration for psychological safety and well-being
· Worker well-being research and practice
· Bringing decent work to the next generation of IWOP professionals
At the 2026 International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP) in Florence, Italy (July 21 to 25, 2026), the Alliance will feature five compelling sessions:
· Meaning of work and life? Multi-country, multi-methods addressing decent work and well-being
· From productivity to protection: Rethinking work and organizational psychology in climate emergencies
· Applied psychology for public sector workers: Lessons from global government
· Integrating ISO 45003 into I-O practice: Advancing psychological health and safety at work
· An interplay of AI and well-being: Breaking the cycle of harm and repair
At the 2026 Brazilian Congress of Organizational and Work Psychology (CBPOT) in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil (July 14 – 17 , 2026), we will present the session Beyond Folklore: Evidence over myths in leadership science.
Across all three conferences, these sessions will foster meaningful global dialogue and collaboration that strengthen our shared commitment to advancing the science and practice of industrial, work, and organizational psychology worldwide.
The Conference Committee is actively preparing additional calls for proposals for 2026 and welcomes submissions.

The Brazilian Society of Work and Organizational Psychology (SBPOT) is the main scientific society in Brazil devoted to advancing our field. As a new AOP member, we are excited to connect and collaborate with international colleagues. For their, we warmly invite everyone to attend the XII CBPOT – Brazilian Congress of Work and Organizational Psychology, which will take place from July 14th to 17th, 2026 at UFBA in Salvador, one of Brazil’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities. We also encourage you to extend your trip to visit Rio de Janeiro, where you can meet our current president, Hugo Sandall.
In Brazil, the recent revision of Regulatory Standard No. 1 (NR-1) has brought psychosocial risk assessment to the center of national debates on occupational health. These legal changes have sparked renewed interest in the role of psychologists in the prevention of workplace risks and in promoting well-being. In response, SBPOT has been organizing a series of free events throughout 2025, both in-person and online via YouTube, to foster public engagement and professional development on these pressing issues. We look forward to sharing knowledge and strengthening international dialogue through AOP!

Small Group Meetings (SGMs): Except planning for EAWOP 2027 in Lyon we are working especially with three calls. The first one concerns a call for organizing small group meetings (SGM). SGM is an initiative that continues the EAWOP commitment to promote collaboration, innovation, and community among Work and Organizational Psychologists across Europe. Small Group Meetings (SGMs) provide a unique platform for 20–25 international participants to engage in focused discussions on key themes, bridging research, practice, and policy.
EAWOP members interested in applying for the SGM are invited to apply to the EAWOP Executive Committee (EC.) by email to Carolina Moliner: carolina.moliner@eawop.org
The submission deadline is January 15th, 2026, and decisions will be communicated during the first week of February 2026.

Thank you for staying in touch with the Alliance for Organizational Psychology (AOP) through this newsletter. AOP was established in 2009, envisioning support and advancement of the science and practice of organizational psychology globally, to promote cross-national collaboration and to facilitate more effective communication among the federated members.
In this edition of our newsletter, we look back on inspiring joint symposia and social gatherings hosted by AOP at the 2025 conferences of federated members SIOP and EAWOP. It was great meeting representatives of the affiliated societies at these occasions. I cherish from these meetings and conversations that the mission and goals of AOP are still broadly supported by our members. Within the AOP Executive Committee we are working on an activity plan to ensure that we continue to meet our goals and further expand the global impact of our field through our network of Industrial Work and Organizational Psychology (IWOP) associations.
An excellent example of creating global connection and impact is the upcoming online Global Industrial Work and Organizational Psychology 24-hour event, taking place 18-19 September 2025 (CET). The announcement for this free event for any IWOP-affiliated association member is included in this newsletter. You don’t want to miss this unique event!
Last, but not least, AOP exists via it’s association members. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to creating better workplaces around the globe. Please feel free to contact me or the other AOP Executive Committee members to share your ideas and suggestions.
Annemarie Hiemstra, Sharon Glazer, Mark Poteet & Alexandra Michel

Please, look out also for AOP's 2025 updates in The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (TIP), 62(3).

Scholars are invited to save the date for the first-ever Global Work and Organizational Psychology Conference (G-WOP), a new initiative across more than a dozen professional industrial-organizational societies and governing bodies from around the world. This event aims to bring colleagues together for connection, reflection, and shared learning to cultivate meaningful action.
As the world of work continues to evolve, presenting both challenges and opportunities, the I-O psychology organizations believe it’s time to come together, across borders, time zones, and career stages, to listen, learn, support one another, and explore this fascinating field of psychology that connects us all.
The event will begin September 18, 2025, 8 a.m. ET (12 p.m. UTC) and will conclude September 19, 2025, 8 a.m. ET (12 p.m. UTC), a true 24-hour marathon!
Please see your member organizations for registration possibilities.
At both SIOP and EAWOP 2025, the Alliance for Organizational Psychology curated thought-provoking, high-impact sessions designed to foster cross-cultural dialogue in the field of Industrial and Organizational (I-O), and Workplace Psychology. At SIOP, sessions explored organizational responses to global migration, systemic barriers facing Indigenous employees, and the critical role of trust in navigating global instability. The sessions sparked meaningful reflection on inclusion, responsibility, and leadership. At EAWOP, Alliance sessions pushed the field forward by challenging outdated I-O concepts, demystifying the academic publishing process through a dynamic "Meet the Editors" format, and examining some of the implications of AI in the workplace through a multidisciplinary symposium. Together, these sessions reflect the Alliance's ongoing commitment to shaping the future of work by convening diverse voices and perspectives, driving global collaboration and dialogue, and bridging the science and practice of Industrial and Organizational, and Workplace Psychology.

The Big Tent, a network created by the Alliance for Organizational Psychology, connects work, industrial, and organizational psychology related societies and associations from around the globe. Recently, the Italian national association for work and organizational psychology (SIPLO that stands for Societa Italiana di Psicologia del Lavoro e delle Organizzazioni) has joined the Big Tent, under the leadership of the Past President, Prof. Francesco Pace from the University of Palermo. Prof. Pace, alongside Prof. Dryjanska, the Chair of the Big Tent, have shared the perspective of organizational psychologists on human trafficking in the artificial intelligence era, during the first Italian national conference dedicated to this topic, organized by the International Diplomatic Institute at Tor Vergata University in Rome.
